    Winter Plans, Summer Stands...
    Great news!

Topdog/Underdog has been a hit! One of our members is planning to produce his short film this winter, and we're coming along for the ride. Although we won't be directing (K. will most likely be working as script supervisor and with some role as DoP, and I will most likely be AD) it will be another great chance at working in film!

That said, we're getting everything geared up for the Summer, 2009 production on "Tokyoland". The cast is slowly taking shape, and we've found a wonderful place for our first big casting and script readings.

Because of Topdog, we've also been in contact with a lot of people from the art world in Tokyo, which is making the process a sweet ride!

Expect more updates soon about the short in December and the pre-production stages of "Tokyoland". Until then, I'll leave you with an oldie but goodie from our previous blog:

    Ramen Girl
"An american woman is stranded in Tokyo after breaking up with her boyfriend. Searching for direction in life, she trains to be a ramen noodle chef under a tyrannical Japanese master."

No. Just...no. Anyway, here's some behind the scenes in Tokyo.

Shots seem so seamless, don't they? Look at all that gear following Murphy around.

To HD or not to HD?
    K here.

A little bird told me that SD was dead. I'm not so sure, so I checked out youtube to see whether or not I should stay with SD or move up(?) to HD.

A Reason to Be a Filmmaker
This film right here is one of the main reasons why K. and I want to be involved in film. Call it a little commercial, but whatever. You can't deny the goodness.

    Welcome To TokyoShop
    M and K here.

    So, what is "Tokyo Shop"?

The sister blog of NeoShop, TokyoShop is an ode to the "Tokyoland", Summer 2009 shoot in Tokyo, Japan.

On this blog, we'll post info on preproduction, pages from the script, updates on shooting locations, and more. During our month-long shoot, we'll post pics of the shoot along with video blog interviews with the cast and crew.

We also want to include interviews from various filmmakers, musicians, artists and any other indie film news we come across while in Tokyo and Japan.

Hopefully, what you see will give you a glimpse into the lives of two filmmakers traveling half-way 'round the world to fulfill their dream of creating quality cinema. You'll probably also see lots of fights, drinking and fuckups...but I digress.

So, grab a beer (or Arbour Mist, we don't judge here) enjoy the ride, and as always, keep writing and filming!
